Meet Chuck Conder

Chuck Conder first came to Riverside in 1986 when he was stationed as an Officer at March Air Force Base. He and his late wife Sharon fell in love with the city and knew it was where they wanted to live and raise their family. That decision changed his life, and he has been proud to call Riverside home ever since.

Chuck grew up in New England and attended the University of Massachusetts where he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Management, Chuck was commissioned in 1979 as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in 1998 and holds the distinction of being the last active duty officer off the base when Congress realigned March to a Reserve Base.

Following his military service, Chuck continued serving his fellow citizens by working with Primerica Financial Services and becoming deeply active in the community — which ultimately led to his election to the Riverside City Council, where he currently represents Ward 4.

As your City Councilman, Chuck's top priorities have always been keeping neighborhoods and families safe, managing growth and its impacts, attracting job-creating businesses, effectively addressing homelessness, and ensuring City Hall lives within its financial means. He is proud of what has been accomplished.

For the first time in years, Riverside's Police Department is fully staffed. Chuck founded the Inland Empire Homeless Forum to find permanent solutions to homelessness. Developers are now required to pay for the impacts their projects have on roads and schools. He voted against the Meridian warehouse project, stopped a homeless apartment complex that would have resulted in more crime in Riverside's neighborhoods, and opposed exorbitant city contracts that drive up the cost of living for residents.

In addition to his duties as City Councilman, Chuck serves on a wide range of regional boards and commissions. He is the current Vice Chair of the March Joint Powers Commission (JPC), Chair of the March Inland Port Airport Authority Finance Sub-Committee, Vice Chair of the March Joint Powers Utility Authority, a Commissioner on the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), and a Commissioner for the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the March Field Air Museum (MFAM) and is a member of the March ARB Compatible Use Study (MCUS) Project.

Beyond his city council role, Chuck has served for many years on the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce Military Affairs Committee and on the Riverside County Water Task Force. He previously served for many years on the Riverside Unified School District Superintendent's Advisory Council.

Chuck is also honored to serve as a board member of Fueled by the Fallen, America's premier nonprofit organization dedicated to remembering and honoring our fallen heroes — a cause that is deeply personal to him as a retired military officer.

Chuck was married to his beloved wife Sharon for just shy of 37 years. He still lives in the home they bought and lived where they raised their four children. He is the proud grandfather of five wonderful grandchildren. Sharon's love for Riverside lives on in everything he does in service to the city.
